Study of the Occult Anatomy of Man

There are multitudes of schools that claim to have the Truth. There is no religion, creed, philosophy or mystical knowledgethat does not believe itself to be the best. Many of these schools speak of sublime, transcendental things, almost always bound to principles of kindness, freedom, happiness. . . But, where really, is the Truth? The truth is within you. . . Do you want to know how you can discover it?You have heard that the superior knowledgecan be discovered by understanding our own selves. How can we discover ourselves? What are we made up of?What makes us work?

Q: You have explained to usabout the needto find the superior knowledge, inside each one of us. Could you please tell ushow we can find this knowledge inside us?We need to understand that just as there exists an ‘outer country’ where we live, so there existsan intimate ‘psychological country’. People are always aware of the city or region where they live; unfortunately, they do not know the psychological place where they are. Just as in the physical world there exist areasfor decent and cultured people,so in each person’s ‘psychological land’ the same thing happens; Just as in the physical world there are towns or districts withvery dangerous alleys, full of attackers,so in our inner psychological land the same thing happens. So we need to look inside us,observe ourselves, inside our own particular psychology. We must do so in each moment of our life: to be aware of the exact location where we are inthe inner psychological country.

Q: How can this be done? It is simple to identify where we are in the outside world at any moment,we just need to look through our eyes. But how can we observewhere we arein our inner psychological world? We need to observe in both cases. However,Observing, and observing one’s self, are two completely different things. Nevertheless, they both require attention. As for observation, the attention is directed to the outside, However for self-observation,the attention is directed to the inside; The starting point of the external observation is the practical side: what is observable. Similarly, the starting point of the work of self observation is: what is self-observable. Unquestionably, the two above-mentioned starting points lead us in completely different directions. The sort of knowledge which transforms someone’s inner sidecould never be achieved through external observation. The knowledge which can really produce a fundamental interior change in us is based upon direct self-observation. Observation is a means to modify the mechanical state of the world. The inner self-observationis a means to change intimately. As a consequence of all this,we can and must say, that there exist two kinds of knowledge: the outer one and the inner one. Therefore, we are faced with two worlds: the outer one and the inner one. The former is perceived by the senses of external perception;the latter can only be perceived by the sense ofinner self observation. Certainly, we live more inside ourinner worlds than in our outer ones; In our “inner worlds”, in our “secret world”:we love, we wish, we suspect, we bless, we damn, we desire,we suffer, we enjoy ourselves,we are deceived, rewarded, etc. , etc. , etc. . . Unquestionably, the two worlds - the inner oneand the outer one -may be verified through experience. The outer world is observable. The inner world is self-observable: we can observe it in ourselves here and now.

Q: Very interesting! Very True! But please tell me: as long as we have eyesor the abilityto observe the outer world,we can go about our normal lifein the external world. Why should we developthe inner self observation?Whoever really wants to know the “inner worlds” of the planet Earth,of the solar system, of the galaxy where we live, must first know their own intimate worlds, their inner and private lives, their own “inner worlds”. “Man, know yourself and you will know the universe and the Gods”. The more you explore this “inner world” called “yourself”,the more you will comprehend that you are living simultaneously in two worlds, the outer one and the inner one. Just as it is indispensable for us to learn how to walk in the “outer world”,so by means of the psychological work on ourselveswe learn how to walk in the “inner world”, Without the knowledge of this inner world, we can never Master ourselves!Unless we develop the knowledge of our inner world,we can never be truly happy or peaceful. This inner knowledgehelps us make the right decisions, to choose what is best for us and live a fulfilled life.

Q: Yes, I can understand that. But please tell me,if this ability to observe ourselves is so important, then why do many people don’t have it?In reality, the sense of self-observation isatrophied in thedecadent human race of the dark times in which we are living. This faculty used to be active inearlier generations or races of human beingsand that is whymany people in earlier racesused to be clairvoyant and wise. However, with time this faculty has been lost. As we persevere with the observation of ourselves, the sense ofintimate self-observation willunfold progressively. Many practices given in Geophilosophyhelp to develop this facultyhoweverthe student has to make the effort to practice regularly. Self observation is paramount. This is the only procedure to know ourselvesin a complete and real way.

Q: OK,so we can develop the facultyof self observation. What will we start to see as we develop this faculty? What lies inside us?The most precious part of our psychology is the essence. Jesus Christ said, ‘In patience you willpossess your souls’; but we should first understand whatis this thing called ‘soul’?Certainly,I must tell you that the soulis a sum of laws, principles, virtues, powers, etc. People possess the ESSENCE, the psychic material to build the soul, orrather to crystallize the soul; but they do not yet possess their souls.

Q: Is this essencethe same as consciousness? Can we please explain about itin more detail?Yes, both are the same. First of all, it is urgent to know what is this thing called consciousness. Everybody knows that when a boxer falls knocked out in the ring, he loses his consciousness. It is clear that when he recovers, he acquires consciousness again. Consequently, everyone comprehends that there exists a cleardifference between the personalityand the consciousness. When we come to this world, we all have three percent of consciousness and ninety seven percent of sub-consciousness,infra-consciousness and unconsciousness. What makes every newborn baby beautiful and lovely is his essence - the three percent of consciousness. The human body grows and unfolds in accordance with the biological laws of the species. However, the spontaneous and natural growth of the essenceis only possible during the first three, four or five years of age, namely, in the first stage of life. People think thatthe growth and development of the essencealways take place in a continuous way, according to the workings of evolution, butUniversal wisdom teaches very clearlythat this concept is wrong. If we want the fraction of essence - the three percent of wakeful consciousness - to grow, something new has to be done. I am referring, in a very emphatic way, to the work on one’s self. The unfoldment of the essence isonly possiblethrough conscious works and voluntary sufferings. It is necessary to comprehend that these workshave nothing to do with one’s job, This work is for every person who hasformed a personality;it is something psychological.

Q: Very interesting! How does the consciousness fit within the overall human structure? Please explain more about thisso that we can understand it clearly. There are seven types of energy within ourselves, which we must comprehend: first, mechanical energy;second, vital energy; third, psychic energy; fourth, mental energy; fifth, energy of the will; sixth, energy of the consciousness;seventh, the energy of pure spirit. . All these types of energy are in differentlevels or dimensions which have nothing to do with the consciousness. Consciousness is a very highenergy in human being. The only energy higher than consciousness is the energy of pure spirit or our “Being”.

Q: Thanks for describing this in more detail. If consciousness is such a high energywithin a human being, how can we makethe best utilization of this energy? How can we awaken this special energy? The consciousness is, in itself,a type of energy which has a veryhigh vibratory frequency. The consciousness can only be awakened throughconscious worksand upright efforts. The small percentage of consciousnesshumankind possessesis pointlessly wasted in normal life. It is obvious that when we identifyourselves with all the events of our existences,we pointlessly waste the energy of the consciousness. The consciousness is like light which is not perceived by the unconscious. We need to open ourselvesso that the light of the consciousness may penetrate the horrible darknessof the “myself”, of the “oneself”. Now it will be easier for us to comprehend the meaningof Saint John’s words when he says in the Gospel: “The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. ” It would be impossible for the light of the consciousness topenetrate the darkness of the “myself”,if we did not use the wonderful sense of psychological self-observation first. The wakeful consciousness enables us to experience reality in a direct way. All nature’s laws exist within ourselves, and if we do not discover them inside ourselves,we shall never discoverthem outside ourselves. Man is contained in the universe and the universe is contained in man. The real is whatever you can experience in yourself. Only the consciousness can experience reality. The language of the consciousness is symbolic, intimate, deeply meaningful, and only the awakened people can comprehend it. eliminate from his interiorall the undesirable elements thatmake up the “ego”, the “myself”, in which the essence is bottled up. Dissolving the psychological “I”,disintegrating the undesirable elements is urgent,un-postponable, indispensable. This is the sense of the work on one’s self. Nobody would be able to annihilate the psychological “I”without first eliminating the inhuman elementswe bear within. We need to reduce to ashes the awful cruelty of these times: Unquestionably, when the psychological “I” has died, the essence shines in us. A free essence provides us withintimate beauty, and from such beauty, perfect happiness and true love come to be.

Q: Very interesting! However, before we understand this further could you please tell uswhat is this Ego, the ‘I’ that you just mentioned? How is this responsible for creating all our problems? The rational mammal, mistakenly called man, does not really possess a definite individuality. Unquestionably, this lack of psychologicalunity in the humanoid is the cause of so many difficulties and sorrows. The physical bodyis a complete unity and works like an organic whole, unless it is sick. But the inner life of the humanoid is inno way a psychological unity. The humanoid, in regard to his inner state, is a psychological multiplicity, a lot of “I’s”. The know-alls of this dark age do not want to realise that the “superior I”or the “inferior I”are two sections ofthe same pluralized “I”. The so-called “divine I”, is certainly a trick of the “myself”,a sort of self-deceit. When the “I” wants to continue existing here and in the beyond, it deceives itself with the false concept ofan immortal, divine ego. . . None of us has an “I” which is true, permanent, immutable, In fact, none of us has a true and authentic unity of being; legitimate individuality. In oriental Tibetthe “I’s” are called “Psychic Aggregates” or simply “values”, either positive or negative ones. If we accept that each “I” is a different person, we may say the following in an emphatic way: “Inside each person who lives in this world, there exist many people”,some of them are good, others bad. . . Each of these “I’s”, each of thesepersons, fights for supremacy;each wants to be theexclusive controller; If some of our listeners still do notcomprehend the doctrine of the many “I’s”, that is simply due to the lack of practice with self-observation. As one practices the interior self-observation, one discovers by oneselfmany people, many “I’s”, which are living inside one’s own personality. Undoubtedly, those who deny the doctrine of the many “I’s”have never observed themselves in a serious way. We can verify clearly that the rational humanoid is never the same for a long time. . . From a psychological point of view, the intellectual mammal is changing continuously. In fact, you do not need to be very wise to fully realize each person’s countlesschanges and contradictions. . . Denying the doctrine of the many “I’s” means fooling ourselves, for in fact it would be absurd to ignorethe intimate contradictions each one of us possesses. The human personality is only a marionettecontrolled by invisible strings. The seven demons which were driven out of Mary Magdalene’sbody by Jesus Christ Anger, Greed, Lust, Envy, Pride, Laziness, and Gluttony. Each of these seven demons is at the head of a legion. If we reflect on all these matters we may clearly see that the only dignified thing thatwe possess within is the ESSENCE. Unfortunately, it is bottled up amongall those multiple “I’s”of the revolutionary psychology. It is regrettable that the essence always worksor processes depending on its own bottling.

Q: This is quite true. But how does this all workin different people? There are differencesin the way these ego’s or ‘I’s express in different people. How can you explain that?To answer this question I have to explain to you about the ‘Personality’. The personality is sheer energy in itself; nobody is born with a personality. It is built as a person grows. When we return, when we come back, when we reincorporate in a new body, we have to create a new personality. But if the human personality perishes with death, who or what returns? We want to make it quite clear that the “I” is the one which continues after death, that the “I” is the one which returns, to this vale of tears. Every return implies, in fact, the construction of a new human personality. This personality is formedduring the first seven years of childhood. Since television was invented, the family’s unity has disappeared. It is a pity that television, such a wonderful invention, is used for destructive aims. If humankind used this invention in adignifying way to study natural sciences,or to give sublime teachings to the people, then such an invention would be a blessing for humankind. It would be used inan intelligent way to educate the human personality. It is urgent to comprehend the need to establisha real balance at home. A father represents severity. A mother represents sweetness. A father personifies wisdom. A mother symbolizes love. Wisdom and love, severity and sweetnesscompensate each other on the two scales of the cosmic balance. During the first three or four years of life, only the beauty of the essence shows in the child. When the ego starts controlling the child’stender personality, all that beauty of the essence disappears little by littleand, in its place, the psychological defectstypical of human beings surface.

Q: This is all very interesting! How important it isto have a balanced growth of this personalityalong with other characteristics of our psychology? The personality and the essence must be unfolded in a harmonious and balanced way. The harmonious un-foldment of bothpersonality and the essence produces brilliant people. It is urgentthat children receive nourishment for their essences and nourishment for their personalities. Each of the three aspects of the human personality -thought, movement, and emotion - must receive special attention so that the child’s personality develops in a harmonious and balanced way. The creation and unfoldment of the child’s personality is a very grave responsibility forparents and school teachers. The quality of a human personality depends exclusively on the sort of psychological material with which it was created and nourished. As for the words “personality”, “essence”,“ego” or “I”, there exists a great confusion amongthe students of psychology. It is urgent to know that we need todisintegrate the ego,the “myself”, the “I”; Through the personality either the egoor the Being can manifest; it all depends on us. It is urgent to dissolve the “I”, the ego so thatour real Being’s psychological essences are the only ones which show through our personalities.

Q: This brings us to another question. You have mentioned ‘Being’several times. Could you please tell mewhat is the ‘Being’?“The Being is the Being, and the reason for being of the Being is the same Being. The Being is the divine, the immortal spark in each human being, without a beginning or an end, terribly divine. Human beings do not possess such a spark inside their bodies yet, but if we sanctify ourselves and eliminate the ‘sinner I’, it is clear that one day the spark will be able to enter our bodies”. In an essential way, we are, as human beings, as souls, the result of the different projections of our own virginal sparks. The Being in each of usor the divine that humans bear inside, is the multiplicity inside the unity. The Being in realitylooks like an army of innocent children. Therefore, each part of the individual Being is self-conscious and even autonomous. Blessed is he who achieves the integration of the Being. The death of the egoand the resurrection of the Being in usmust happen during our lives. The Being and the ego are incompatible. Finally, we want to say thatthere are two possible psychological states facing a definite student on this path:a) The BEING’S state, which is transparent, crystalline, impersonal, real and true. b) The “I’s” state, which is a sum of psychic aggregates, personifying defects, whose only reason to existis ignorance.
